Telemetry is a transmission of the readings of instruments to a remote
location by means of wires, radio waves, or other means.
A telemetry nurse assess patient health problems and needs, develop and
implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. A telemetry
nurse typically administers care to patients in a hospital or clinical
environment.
May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide
case management. Telemetry nursing is practiced by nurses who have specialized
formal, post-secondary education and who function in highly autonomous
and specialized roles.
