Orthopedics Nursing Career
Resources
Orthopedics is a branch of surgery concerned with the skeletal and
joint systems. Orthopedics is involved in the diagnosis and treatment (often
surgical) of conditions affecting the bone or joint structure, including
tendons and ligaments.
An orthopedics nurse assesses patient health problems, develops and implements
nursing care plans, and maintains medical records. An orthopedics nurse
typically administers care to patients in an OR, ER or Med/Surg environment.
Orthopedics nursing is practiced by nurses who have formal, post-secondary
education and who function in highly autonomous and specialized roles.
