Float Nursing Career Resources

Float nurses have the ability to work within many different medical departments. They often have a broad base of medical knowledge applicable to a variety of medical disciplines and working environments.

A float nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, and develops and implements nursing care plans. A float nurse typically administers care to patients in an emergency, surgical or medical ward environment. Float nursing is practiced by nurses who have specialized formal, post-secondary education and who function in highly autonomous roles.
