Gynecology is the branch of medicine dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the female reproductive and pelvic organs.
A gynecology nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and maintains medical records. A gynecology nurse typically administers care to patients in an inpatient, surgical or outpatient setting.
Gynecology nursing is practiced by nurses who have specialized formal, post-secondary education and who function in highly autonomous and specialized roles.
